SRS Precautions

Please read the following precautions carefully before performing removal of the airbag. Observe the instructions described in below, or the airbags could accidentally deploy and cause damage or serious injury.

  • Always turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the negative cable from the battery, and wait at least three minutes before beginning work. NOTE: The contents in the memory in the airbag control module are not erased even if the ignition switch is turned OFF or the battery cables are disconnected from the battery.
  • Carefully inspect any SRS part before you install it. Do not install any part that shows signs of being dropped or improperly handled, such as dents, cracks or deformations.

  • Before removing any of the SRS parts (including the disconnection of the connectors), always disconnect the SRS connectors.

  • Do not put objects on the passenger’s airbag assembly.

For temporary storage of the airbag during service, please observe the following precautions.

  • Store the removed airbag with pad surface up. Never put anything on the removed airbag assembly.

  • Keep free from oil, grease, detergent, or water to prevent damage to the airbag and seat belt tensioner assembly.

  • Store the removed airbag on a secure flat surface away from any high heat source (exceeding 93°C/200°F). Do not store the airbag inside the vehicle.

  • Do not position yourself in front of the airbag assembly during removal, inspection, or replacement. Should it accidentally deploy, you could be seriously injured.
